October Classes Still Available!

Fall is finally here, and while you may be sad that summer is over, just think of all the delicious food that autumn has to offer!  Here at COOK we are anxiously awaiting the bounty of apples, sweet potatoes, squash, pumpkins and more fall produce that chefs will be bringing into our kitchen. Our November schedule will be released on Monday, October 8th at 2 PM, but in the meantime treat yourself to one of our October classes that still have seats available. Don’t let these classes fall through your hands!

Class Recap: The Nasi Lemak Lady’s Basket Of Food With Ange Branca of Saté Kampar

Imagine waking up every morning to the crow of a rooster and a lady singing about your soon-to-be breakfast. That was reality for Chef/Owner Ange Branca of Saté Kampar, who we welcomed back to COOK last week. The singing lady in question was known as the Nasi Lemak Lady. She would make her rounds during sunrise, carting around her basket of goods which included the national dish of Malaysia: nasi lemak. Ange brought the food from her childhood into our kitchen and showed our guests how to make the delicious coconut rice bundle wrapped in banana leaves. Assuming you don’t have a “Nasi Lemak Lady” delivering home cooked meals to your door, read on to learn how to make the beloved dish for yourself!

Class Recap: Around The Argentine Table with Jezabel Careaga of Jezabel’s

Last Friday Jezabel Careaga of Jezabel’s and Jezabel’s Studio returned to COOK to put on an Argentine family feast. Helping her in the COOK kitchen was her brother Jesus, who said he came all the way from Argentina just for this class! Jezabel joked that she thought her brother travelled to see her, and that was just the start of the jovial family fun. Together the siblings put together a four course feast featuring, among other things, an Argentine staple: choripan, a chorizo sandwich. Learn a thing or two about the cuisine of Argentina, get the details on an end-of-summer party at Jezabel’s Studio, and snag a recipe for Jezabel’s chimichurri!

You Must Try This For National Mustard Day!

Mustard won’t be playing second fiddle to ketchup this weekend because this Saturday, August 4th is National Mustard Day! While you could celebrate the day by eating some mustard slathered hot dogs or pretzels, why not treat yourself to a dish that is all about the mustard?
