Brunch is served


Nikki Hill, former sous chef at Barbuzzo and future James Beard Foundation Award winner (mark my words!) and partner, Claire Wadsworth, former and future keyboard/piano wunderkind, are hitting the streets of Northern Liberties, making brunch the most important (and delicious) meal of the week.

Collectively known as La Copine, the pair is launching La Copine Brunch Cart at Garden Variety, the outdoor event space formerly part of the defunct Arbol Cafe. Starting this weekend, and running throughout the summer,the La Copine Brunch Cart will be in the 2nd and Poplar garden Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As Nikki told me recently, “we are excited about making fresh, quality food and giving people an alternative to eating in a restaurant.”

I got a sneak peak last weekend and the fresh and primarily locally-sourced items including sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sammies, homemade hashbrowns, and PB&J grilled banana bread were to die for! Sweet Jesus, I’m getting hungry just thinking about them! Check out the full menu here.

With plans for a supper club coming in June, and their own line of canned and prepared items down the line, these two are certainly ones to watch in the Philly food scene.
