Holiday gift ideas from the COOK pantry

IMG_3771

You already know us here at COOK for our nightly demonstration classes (January tickets on sale now!) and huge cookbook selection. But did you know we also have a small-but-smart retail section in the corner of our kitchen? It’s a carefully curated collection, packed with our own house line of spices, mixes and candies, plus handy tools/utensils and locally produced goods. After the jump, we’re highlighting just three of our favorite pantry items that’d make excellent holiday gifts. Come visit us [retail hours] to check out the rest!

Short Stack Editions: If the cookbook shelf in your undersized city kitchen is getting out of control, this series is designed especially for you. Slim, stylish and space-saving minis focused on one ingredient per edition, Short Stack Editions make a killer stocking stuffer — and at just $12 a pop, you can get one for yourself, too! We just added four new volumes to the collection: Honey (Vol. 8), Corn (Vol. 10), Apples (Vol. 11) and Brown Sugar (Vol. 12).

Side Project Jerky: “Jerky for Gentlemen” is the tagline of this Philly-made foodstuff, but Side Project is great for the dehydrated-beef loving dames in your life, as well. Founded by two friends with full-time jobs (hence the name), this snack is a true passion project. And we bet you’ll be passionate about these flavors: the flagship Cheesesteak, Mongolian and Southwestern are killer, but there’s also limited-edition varieties like Pho, a collab with chef Sean Magee of Time Restaurant.

Paddywax Candles + Soaps: We LOVE the Paddywax line here at COOK. Each soy-wax candle comes in a green glass recycled wine bottle and burns for 90 hours. A candle and soap combo would make an excellent host/hostess gift. Staff favorite scents include Bamboo, Green Tea and Bordeaux Fig. Made right here in the U.S., too!
