SAM JACOBSON
Chef, Southwark

Sam Jacobson was born in Norwich, England and spent his first two decades in London. Within 3 years of an exploratory visit to the U.S., he had graduated from New England Culinary School in Vermont and has been this side of the pond ever since. He has spent time catering private events and making chocolates, but was most recently the Executive Chef at Sycamore BYOB in Lansdowne, during which time it won two Best of Philly awards, including “Best New Restaurant in the ‘Burbs” in 2010. Sam was recognized for his “wonderfully inventive” tasting menus as Sycamore was also named in the top 5 restaurants in Philadelphia by Zagat in 2012, scoring 28 out of 30 for food. For the past year, Sam served as Executive Chef of the popular Queen Village restaurant, Southwark. He considers the balancing of flavors to be one of the most important aspects of his cooking.
