Chef, In Riva
Philadelphia-born chef, Arthur Cavaliere has been a part of the always-evolving Philadelphia restaurant scene for 14 years, beginning his career as a line cook for chef Derek Davis in 1996. In the years following, Cavaliere joined the STARR Restaurant Organization and worked alongside Iron Chef Jose Garces in the opening of El Vez and eventually Amada. Cavaliere returned to El Vez in 2006 as Executive Chef and soon after became the Executive Chef of Parc, Starr’s booming French bistro on Rittenhouse Square. From there, Cavaliere left his hometown for Washington, DC to work with whimsical chef Michel Richard, as the executive chef of Central Michel Richard. It was during a busy Friday night on the pass at Central that Cavaliere received a phone call from long time family friend Mark Sherman, strategically planting the idea of opening a restaurant in his space along the banks of the river (aka in riva…) and the thought never left the chef’s mind. After opening Mani Osteria and Bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan with former Starr/Garces alum, Adam Baru, Cavaliere returned home, and sold Sherman on the idea of In Riva.
