Is COVID-19 (Coronavirus) affecting classes?
Protecting the health and safety of everyone who walks through our doors, as well as all people throughout the region, remains our top priority. We look forward to hosting classes at COOK in the future. Until it is safe to return to our kitchen-classroom, we are reopening our doors as CORK, the Wine Shop at COOK, and we look forward to welcoming you to CORK. As always, we truly appreciate your continued support and understanding during this time.
How do I use my gift card?
Gift certificates may be applied toward in-store purchases, excluding wine/alcohol. Gift certificates do not expire, so you can certainly hold onto your certificate for when classes resume.
What if I can’t make it?
Classes are non-refundable due to limited seating. However, if you are unable to make the class, you are welcome to give your seats to someone else for that particular event (please just call us and give us a heads up). Think of it like a ticket to see Stevie Nicks in concert: if you can’t make it that night, you can give it to someone else to use, but you can’t use the ticket to see Rod Stewart some other time. Please notify us at least 6 hours ahead of time if you are unable to attend.
What if a class is cancelled?
In the rare instance of a class cancellation due to severe weather or low class enrollment, COOK will issue a full credit to registered guests in the form of a gift certificate. If a gift certificate was used to purchase class tickets, we will issue you a new gift certificate in the amount redeemed. No cash refunds are given regardless of payment method.
What time should I arrive?
COOK’s classes start on time. To ensure that all our guests get the maximum experience out of our classes, we kindly request that you make every effort to arrive 15 minutes prior to the class start time. Our space is small and late arrivals can be disruptive to other guests. If you know that you are going to be late, please just call ahead to let us know. COOK and all our chefs sincerely appreciate your promptness.
Should I bring anything?
COOK is NOT a BYOB. At every evening class, wine or other beverages are included in the cost. Daytime classes do not offer alcohol unless otherwise noted. During warm weather, we crank our air conditioning in order to offset the heat of the kitchen equipment. Depending on where you sit, you may get chilly and are therefore encouraged to bring a light sweater.
Who does the cooking?
Unless otherwise stated, COOK’s classes are primarily all demonstration style meaning the guest chef does the cooking. You are there to learn but also to sit back and watch as a skilled professional walks you through how to prepare a delicious meal. Hands-on classes are noted as such but guests are always encouraged to engage and interact with the chef at all classes.
Will I get recipes?
While we try our very best to give COOK students the recipes of the dishes prepared in each class, we cannot guarantee that they will be made available to us. For example, some recipes are proprietary, copyrighted or cannot be disclosed if included in an upcoming cookbook. We do provide guests with paper and pencil and encourage our students to ask questions and take notes.
Will I leave hungry?
During evening classes, regardless of the class subject, you will be well fed and receive a full meal unless noted otherwise. During daytime classes, you may not necessarily receive a full meal but snacks and treats will be served.
How long is a class?
Classes average 2 hours in length – but some will go longer and some will end earlier.
What if I have allergies or dietary restrictions?
Don’t eat meat? Allergic to shellfish? nuts? How about gluten? We can help! Just tell us the day you sign up for your class if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions by emailing us with the name of the class you’ve registered for and what you cannot eat and we will do our very best to accommodate you. PLEASE NOTE: if you wait until the day of your class, we cannot guarantee that the chef will be able accommodate you.
Is alcohol included?
Yes – at every evening class, wine or other beverages are included in the cost. Daytime classes do not offer alcohol unless otherwise noted.
Is gratuity included?
Yes.
How many seats can I buy for a public class?
GROUP TICKETING IS NOT PERMITTED. Guests may purchase a maximum of six seats to a public class. Purchasing more than 6 seats (i.e. two sets of 6 seats) for one group of guests will constitute a private event and will be billed accordingly at the end of the class for the difference in price. If you are interested in a private event, please visit our Private Events page.
