First, the man behind Giunta Malbec Nouveau – Daniel Brennan. Daniel’s journey began as a bartender at his family’s establishment McCrossen’s Tavern, where he developed a love for wine, New Zealand wines in particular. After taking the Core Sommelier Course at the Wine School of Philadelphia, he was accepted to New Zealand’s Centre of Viticulture and Wine at Eastern Institute of Technology, where he graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in winemaking. Daniel’s Decibel Wines crafts sustainably raised, minimal intervention, vegan friendly wines in collaboration with local growers in Hawke’s Bay.
Decibel’s Giunta Series wines are styled to be young and fresh. The name plays homage to Dan’s heritage, a family name of his Sicilian great grandparents. Giunta Malbec Nouveau is juicy and fresh, leaving your mouth watering for more. Dark royal purple in color, its nose is a complex blend of aromatics – savory black olive, brambly blackberry, warm allspice and wafts of smokiness. Spice and blackberry continue on the palate, combined with a juicy, crisp acidity. Enjoy it slightly chilled with cheese and charcuterie boards, pizza and summer barbecue fare.
