Everything’s Coming Up Rosés at CORK

This weekend’s forecast calls for rosé! With temperatures on the rise and Memorial Day weekend around the corner, the time has arrived for us to embrace the official wine of summer – rosé. Although we believe that rosé should be enjoyed year round, CORK has expanded the rosé section for the season. Check out our new additions below and stop by CORK daily between 11AM to 8PM to shop pink. Wine may also be reserved online for curbside pick up.

While you can pick up all of these rosés to take home or to a picnic meetup, you may also buy a chilled bottle (or can!) and enjoy it at one of our outdoor café tables!

Sauska Villány Rosé 2019 (Hungary)
Made from indigenous Blaufränkisch along with Merlot, Kadarka, Pinot Noir and a touch of Syrah. Shiny salmon pink in color with breezy wildflower aromas. A full palate of raspberries, watermelon and wild strawberries with a refreshing finish.

Holden Manz Rothko Rosé (Western Cape, South Africa)
Pale rose in color, dry and fruit driven, Rothko is made in true Provence style with Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault. On the nose, it’s delicate with perfumed rose petals and grapefruit. On the palate, it’s crisp yet creamy with a long finish. The aging on this selection has brought a layered and savory flavor. Fantastic with oysters!

Francois Ducrot Solange Rosé (Languedoc/Roussillon, France)
Certified organic, 100% Merlot, aromatic with floral, grapefruit and exotic fruit notes, along with some gentle minerality.

Milenrama Rioja Rosado (Rioja, Spain)
Mostly Garnacha with a splash of Viura. On the nose, fresh peach and raspberry. On the palate, it’s soft and silky with juicy red fruit at the end. Serve with tapas, seafood and light pasta dishes.

Bodegas Ponce “Las Cañadas” Rosé Bobal (La Mancha, Spain)
A natural, organic and biodynamic blend of Bobal and Alilla with floral, mineral and red fruit aromas. Dry and medium-high acidity, it’s refreshing with raspberry and strawberry notes. Enjoy with roasted branzino, Punjabi-style palak paneer and crispy pork carnitas.

Ganeta Txakoli Rose (Basque Country, Spain)
A natural, vegan Txakoli made from 100% Hondarribi Beltza. Dry with citrus and wildflower aromas, as well as a sea breezy salinity due to the producer’s close proximity to the Atlantic. Very refreshing with a touch of watermelon juice on the finish. Pairs well with tapas, and it’s perfect for seafood.

Red Tail Ridge Winery Pinot Noir Pet-Nat (Finger Lakes, NY)
Hand-harvested and minimal intervention! On the nose: strawberry, cranberry and hints of mint. On the palate: frothy bubbles bring tart strawberry, rhubarb, more cranberry, as well as orange pith.

On the go? Canned wines are perfect for outdoor gatherings, and CORK carries three canned rosé options: Ramona Sparkling Rose (available in 4-packs), RUZA Rosé and Scribe Una Lou Rosé.

These additions join our collection of year-round favorites, including:
Scribe Pét-Nat Rosé (Sonoma, CA)
Duckman Sparkling Rosé Pét-Nat (Portugal)
Days Of Youth “The Diver” Rosé (California)
Podere Giardino Lambrusco Rosé (Emilia-Romagna, Italy)
Lusenti Fiocco di Rosé (Emilia-Romagna, Italy)
Rene Geoffroy Rosé de Saignee Brut Champagne (France)
Lamoreaux Landing Dry Rosé (Finger Lakes, NY)
Sun Goddess Pinot Grigio (Friuli, Italy)
La Patience Rosé (Rhone, France)
Château des Ferrages Rosé (Côtes de Provence, France)
Familie Bauer Rosé (Austria)

Speaking of rosé, check out Istine Rosé Vermouth, a Sangiovese based sipping vermouth that drinks like a bianco, fruit forward with some floral and fresh herbaceous notes, with a pleasant bitter-sweetness on the finish.

TAG Time Happy Hour at CORK: Raise a Glass and Raise Funds for Cancer Research

This week, from Monday, May 17 to Sunday, May 23, CORK is participating in TAG Time Happy Hour, a series of events aimed at raising awareness and funds for cancer research and treatment. Organized by Philadelphia’s Kristina and Jim Burke, a food and beverage couple battling cancer and raising funds for EGFR lung cancer research, TAG Time has one goal: to improve outcomes for patients with EGFR positive lung cancer by accelerating research and ultimately changing an EGFR lung cancer diagnosis into a manageable chronic disease.

Funds raised go directly to EGFR Resisters Patient Advocacy Group and LUNGevity Foundation, whose cancer research has revolutionized outcomes for lung cancers patients, including Jim Burke of Wm. Mulherin’s Sons, currently battling lung cancer himself.

CORK “regulars” Kristina and Jim Burke have personally selected some of their favorite CORK wines. This week, 50% of the sales will be donated to EGFR Resisters and LUNGevity, whose work has revolutionized outcomes for lung cancer patients, including Jim Burke himself. Wine selections include Lusenti Fiocco di Rose (Emilia-Romagna, Italy); Zanasi Lambrusco (Emilia-Romagna, Italy); Famille Baron-Foucher Sancerre (Loire Valley, France); and Ottosoldi Barbera (Piedmont, Italy).

Stop by COOK between 11AM to 8PM daily to pick up TAG Time wines or reserve online for curbside pick up. While you can certainly take them home to enjoy, you may also make a true happy hour out of it. Purchase a bottle inside CORK and enjoy it at one of our new outdoor tables, accompanied by some delicious cheese, charcuterie and other snacks available in our pantry!

For more information on TAG Time Happy Hours, EGFR research and additional upcoming #tagtimehappyhour events, visit tagtimehappyhour.org.

Yes You CAN! Canned Options at CORK

There’s many reasons to embrace the humble can. First, they’re portion controlled – if you’re not wanting to commit to a full bottle, they’re just what you need. Second, they’re ready to drink, no corkscrew or glass required, making them picnic perfection. Third, you can try two or three wines without opening three full-sized bottles. Feeling can-do? Check out our canned wine selections below. Shop in-store daily from 11AM to 8PM or reserve online for easy curbside pick up.

RAMONA
Founded by Jordan Salcito, award-winning sommelier and former Beverage Director for David Chang’s Momofuku restaurants, RAMONA is a line of sparkling wines and wine spritzes. Organic and vegan, low sulfite and low calorie, 4-packs available at CORK include Dry Sparkling Rosé, Blood Orange Spritz and Dry Ruby Grapefruit Spritz. With Ramona, Jordan filled a void for a better tasting, better- for-you, portable, organic beverage!

SCRIBE WINERY
Sonoma’s Scribe Winery produces organic, non-interventionist, hand-harvested wines that have a devoted following, to say the least. Their “Una Lou” Rosé of Pinot Noir celebrates the bright light fruit tones of Pinot Noir and its spry, natural acidity. Fresh and zippy, it offers both aromas and flavors of strawberries and citrus, with hints of salinity and a dry, crisp finish.

RUZA ROSÉ
Ruza unites craft winemaking with the format of the moment: the can. Abundant raspberry, cherry, and strawberry on the nose meets peppy brightness and a dry finish for a cool, contemporary rosé. Oh, and one more thing: it’s slightly spritzy on the palate. Chill, pop, repeat.

LUBANZI
Fair Trade Certified, Lubanzi is a collaboration between co-founders Charlie Brain and Walker Brown and local South African winemakers. Lubanzi is a young, innovative and socially responsible brand that has partnered with The Pebbles Project, a not for profit that provides health and education resources directly back to the families who live and work on South Africa’s wine farms. Lubanzi’s 375 mL canned wines include a 100% Chenin Blanc and a red blend, both available at CORK.

Lubanzi Chenin Blanc offers tropical and stone fruits on the nose, eliciting tangerine and lychee. The palate is round with, again, lychee, along with white peach, apricot and green apple, all with a touch of acidity and just a hint of freshly baked bread.

Lubanzi Red is a complex blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan. Dark ruby in color, the blend puts forward aromas of plum, licorice and a touch of coffee. The palate also offers a harmonious blend of spice and fruit – both dark fruit and lighter strawberry and raspberry – as well as a bit of earthiness. Throughout, it’s soft with slight tannins, countered by an elevated acidity.

ALTITUDE PROJECT
Imported by Walla Walla’s Altitude Cellars, Altitude Project Pinot Noir is sourced from Chile’s Central Valley. Soaring with expressive notes of cherry, black plum and clove, finishing with soft tannins.

SERA LUCE VENETIAN SPRITZ
Inspired by an Italian classic, Sera Luce Venetian Spritz awakens your palate with the perfect balance of bitter and sweet. Infused with Valencia orange, a bouquet of bitter and savory herbs and other traditional botanicals, this bubbly wine cocktail invites you to savor la dolce vita!

PLOUGHMAN CIDER
Ploughman’s Muhibbah Cider was inspired by a series of Cheese, Sambal and Cider collaboration dinners with Malaysian chef Ange Branca and cheesemaker Jamie Png. Incorporating makrut lime leaves, star anise, cumin and coriander into a dry cider, this is a very unique and food friendly cider.

NON-ALCOHOLIC CANS
Looking for something zero proof? CORK offers two brands of bitters and sodas – Angostura Lemon and Lime, as well as Bitter Housewife, available in Aromatic and Orange varieties.
