I would like to start with congratulating Lacroix at the Rittenhouse for an amazing 10 years. To commemorate their tenth anniversary, Lacroix hosted an elaborate celebration dinner, benefiting the Lacroix scholarship through the James Beard Foundation and honoring Jean-Marie Lacroix for his contribution to Philadelphia’s (and the nation’s) culinary scene.
On Monday September 24th I had the opportunity to photograph the action in the kitchen, along with 10 talented chefs, all of whom at some point in their careers worked in this renowned kitchen (the biggest one I’ve ever seen, by the way). The evening’s collaborative menu was one of the most impressive I’ve seen, and here it is:
Jon Cichon, Lacroix
Caviar with Corn, Shiso and Uni
Brinn Sinnott, Parc
Wild Boar Pâté with Celery Root Ravigote and Juniper
Jason Cichonski, Ela
Scallop & Foie Gras Terrine with Yuzu, Rye and Huckleberry
Matthew Levin, Square Peg
Wild Japanese Jack with Lychee, Smoked Peanuts and Broccoli
Lee Styer, Fond
Lobster with Gold Beets and Truffle
Michael Fiorello, Garces Group
Rabbit Tortellini with Cherry and Pistachio
Townsend Wentz, McCrossen’s Tavern
Veal Cheek and Sweetbread with Nutmeg Olive Oil, Potato & Thyme Jus
Matt Ridgway, PorcSalt
Lacquered Roe Deer with Parisian Style Gnocchi and Sauce Saupiquet
Peter Scarola, R2L
Fennel Parfait with Grapefruit Gelée and Tarragon Meringue
Fred Ortega, Lacroix
Assorted Chocolates with Cardamom and Salted Caramel
Indeed it was one of the most impressive casts of chefs I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting. And in addition to all of the talent shown above, a few more friends of Lacroix came to lend a hand and be a part of this memorable night. So here are a few more pics from this momentous evening. If you didn’t get a chance to go this year, you’ll just have to wait for the 20th anniversary…
