There is inevitably one person on our list that will enjoy the gift of food. For me, that person is me. Baked goods make “sweet” holiday gifts for anyone left on your list. That’s precisely why we’re hosting two holiday pop-ups. This Saturday, December 14th from 10am – 2pm (or until sold out) Machine Shop Boulangerie, a South Philly French-inspired bakery, will have fresh breads and pastries for sale at COOK. Next Friday, December 20th from 11am – 3pm (or until sold out) Okie Dokie Donuts will be at COOK selling, yes, all the donuts! Read on to learn more about our pop-ups and our continuing Twelve Days of COOKmas Sale.
Machine Shop Boulangerie
Saturday, December 14th, 10am until sold out
Katie Lynch and Emily Ridell of Machine Shop Boulangerie will be at COOK showcasing and selling their delicious, artisanal baked goods. Katie and Emily partnered up to open their own wholesale bakery in the South Philadelphia Bok Building. Each of them brings extensive baking knowledge and experience to the table as well as traditional French techniques. As Philadelphia natives, Katie and Emily are proud to use grains from Pennsylvania, milled in-house, as well as wild yeast from Philadelphia. You can find Machine Shop’s baked goods in a number of local cafes and restaurants, such as Elixr Coffee Roasters, ReAnimator Coffee Roasters, Menagerie, Res Ipsa and more. Luckily for you, this wholesale bakery will be popping up at COOK this Saturday, December 14th at 10am, making their coveted bread and sweets available for purchase direct from Katie and Emily!
In addition to their lineup of sweet/savory viennoiserie and sourdough bread, Machine Shop Boulangerie will be selling:
- pecan coffee cake
- cherry pistachio croissant
- coffee morning bun
- apple almond danish
- fig and walnut boule
- PA country batard
Saturday is also day 6 of our COOKmas sale and given the Machine Shop pop-up, save 20% on all baking items: whisks, pastry brushes, cake stands, COOK recipe boxes, rolling pins and baking cookbooks.
Okie Dokie Donuts
Friday, December 20th, 11am until sold out
In 2012, Carol Ha started Okie Dokie as a fun side project. Since those days, Okie Dokie has grown into a full-fledged business with quite the following. Utlizing a gluten-free dough that features rice flour, tapioca starch, and potato starch, Okie Dokie is hoping the early success yields further growth, including a brick-and-mortar retail shop in 2020. While they don’t have that storefront yet, Carol and joint-owner Bill, sell their beloved donuts at pop-ups and fulfill orders for events out of a shared commercial kitchen. When they stop by COOK on Friday, December 20th, they’ll be bringing the following flavors:
-
chocolate mint
-
orange gingerbread
-
butterscotch vanilla
-
apple crumble
December 20th is the 12th and FINAL day of our COOKmas sale. Save 20% on all kitchen essentials: olive oil, coffee press, cutting boards, COOK finishing salts, microplanes, bamboo utensil set, nesting prep set, terra cotta pinch bowls, utensil pots and basil hydropod. That’s a lotta savings!
