Feeling Riesling

Let’s reconsider Riesling. All too often typecast as cloyingly sweet, Riesling presents a diverse spectrum of flavor and origin. From the German trocken (dry) style to the rich Finger Lakes variety, there’s a lot to love. Check out our roundup of Rieslings below and shop in-store all weekend from 11AM to 8PM. If you prefer, reserve your wine online for easy pickup!

Speaking of this weekend, a portion of sales from Friday, March 4 to Sunday, March 6 will benefit Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen, which is providing meals to Ukrainians fleeing home as well as those who remain in the country.

Gustavshof Trocken Vom Berg Riesling (Germany)
Clean, medium-plus-bodied wine that is majorly refreshing with bursts of of apples, ripe peaches, and honeycomb. Excellent with sushi, as well as spicy Thai cuisine.

Riesling Hattenheimer Engelmannsberg (Germany)
An off-dry German selection with white blossoms on the nose and a juicy palate of peach, green apple and apricot, balanced by a zesty lime-like acidity. This is another one that pairs splendidly with spicy Thai fare, particularly curries and chili crab.

Dandelion Vineyards Enchanted Garden of the Eden Valley Riesling (Australia)
High acid, lower alcohol and bone dry, this is a natural wine with clean citrus and stone fruit on the palate. Lemon meringue tart in wine form.

Maloof Wines No Clos Radio Riesling (Oregon)
Maloof Wines collaborated with Fossil & Fawn to produce this dry Riesling. Production is old school: crushed by foot before being pressed off into neutral burgundy barrels. Racy acidity with just a bite of funk on the finish.

Red Newt Cellars Riesling (Finger Lakes, New York)
Another off-dry choice, Red Newt is an expression of the richer style of Finger Lakes Riesling. With notes of tropical and orange fruit, Red Newt considers this one their hidden gem.

Red Tail Ridge Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, New York)
Ripe, juicy peach and fresh apple on the nose with honeysuckle, cantaloupe and a hint of pineapple. Full, fresh flavor with a citrus and mineral finish. Juicy tropical fruit lingers on a long aftertaste.
