Have Yourself a Piquette Picnic

The weather outside is delightful. Perfect for a picnic in the park, and we have the perfect picnic sipper – piquette! This fizzy, low-alcohol beverage is the ideal day-drinker, and we have not one but three bottles of Slovenian piquette to choose from, plus a Cali canned option. Check them out below and then stop by to shop in-store. Pick up a picnic blanket while you’re here! We’re open daily from 11AM to 8PM, and if you prefer, you can reserve online for easy pick up.

First, what exactly is piquette? Following wine production, you take the pressed skins of grapes, adding a bit of water to extract any remaining sugar. After an initial fermentation, it’s pressed, blended with unfermented juice and bottled for a final fermentation, resulting in a light, low-ABV wine. More than a by-product, piquette is delicious in its own right!

Gabernik 23 “Pikola” Red Piquette
Try this unique Slovenian sparkling blend of Blaufränkisch, Riesling, Pinot Noir. Discover aromas of pomegranate, apricot jam, rosemary, and lavender. The palate continues these notes with a floral tone emerging as more red fruits come to the forefront. There is a pleasant rusticity here, with tart acidity and semi-soft tannins.

Gabernik 23 “Pikola” Rosé Piquette
Rosé lovers, this one’s for you! Enjoy aromas of pomegranate, apricot jam, rosemary, and lavender. The palate continues these notes with a floral tone emerging and more red fruits coming to the forefront. There is a pleasant rusticity here, with tart acidity and semi-soft tannins.

Sanctum Stix & Bugs Piquette
Stix & Bugs Piquette is a blend of hand-picked Blaufrankisch, Zweigelt and Pinot Noir. With forest berry aromas and a palate of berries and plums, it’s highly quaffable and super refreshing. For a piquette, this one has a surprisingly weighty mouthfeel.

Two Shepherds Maxzilla Piquette
Made from California Carignan, Maxzilla Piquette is small and mighty. These sparkling red bubbles leap out of the can and stick the landing. Enjoy this tongue-tickling summer treat—it’s bright, dry, fresh, and zippy!
