Technical-ly Speaking: Back to School with How-To Sessions at COOK!

Summer is nearing its end and the kids are returning to the classroom – some more begrudgingly than others. While they might not be so amused with the idea, some of us are nostalgic for the opportunity  to get back to the classroom. This September, learn something new with some informative and how-to classes at COOK – enroll online today!

Sunday, September 11th, 2 pm: COOKbook Author Series: Knife Skills with Jeffrey Elliot of Culinary Relations and Author of “The Zwilling J.A. Henckels Complete Book of Knife Skills”
Having a good set of knives is a game changer in the kitchen, but more important than that is the knowledge to properly use one! Hone your knife skills with this hands-on class with Jeffrey Elliot, a COOK regular, as he demonstrates a variety of knife cutting techniques as well as some much needed safety tips. After slicing and dicing your way through this class, you’ll be chopping like a pro. Additionally, each guest will be taking home a copy of Jeffrey Elliot’s book, The Zwilling J.A. Henckels Complete Book of Knife Skills so you’ll be able to practice at home!

Sunday, September 18th, 1pm Match-101 with Alexis Siemons of Teaspoons & Petals
If you’re a tea lover, this class is for you! Matcha is a Japanese green tea powder with a variety of health benefits. Also, because of its color, it instantly adds a lovely shade of green to any dish! It’s no wonder that it’s being used in everything from baked goods to lattes these days. For this one, we’re bringing in our tea-expert, Alexis Siemons, for an informative session on how you, too, can incorporate this popular ingredient into your cooking (and even in a cocktail!).

Saturday, September 24th, 3 pm: Cheers to Oktoberfest Beers with Meredith Rebar and Garrett Lee Williams of Home Brewed Events
Oktoberfest-ivals will soon be popping up everywhere, and this one’s sure to get you in the spirit of things!  If you have a pension for beer drinking and a curiosity for Oktoberfest-style beers, this class is not one to miss! Meredith Rebar and Garrett Lee Williams of Home Brewed Events will be returning to the COOK kitchen for an informative evening of beer tasting where they will cover the ins and outs of what makes a great Oktoberfest brew and any other beer-related questions you may have. Guests will also get to follow along as Meredith and Garrett brew an Oktoberfest beer in class. The fun doesn’t stop there. Guests will be able to pick up their own bottle of the beer after just a few weeks of fermenting!
