Wild Kingdom Wines

Market analysis suggests that wine labels featuring animals grab the attention of American consumers. In recent years, “critter label” wines make up roughly 20% of new wines entering the American market. Our own zoo has expanded lately, so check out our own roundup of “critter labels.” Shop in-store daily from 11AM to 8PM or reserve online for easy pick up.

Echeverria Wild Pét-Nat Chardonnay (Chile)
Tropical notes of mango, pineapple and citrus with a gentle fizz. Fantastic with Thai cuisine, sushi, fried seafood, but it can also cut through rich cheese and risotto.

João Pato (aka Duckman) Espumante Rosa (Portugal)
Lovely pale pink color, this 100% Baga pét-nat has a light palate of cherry blossom, strawberry, white peach and nectarine, underpinned by an earthy minerality. A super refreshing wine for both light and spicy fare.

Denthis Lost (Greece)
A blend of Moschofilero and Malagousia, Lost offers aromas of lemon and rose petals. Medium-bodied with racy acidity, enjoy it with easy-breezy summer seafood.

Dr. G Dry Riesling (Germany)
Apple blossoms and minerals – it’s the perfect intro to dry Riesling! Pick this one up next time you’re having bratwurst this summer.

Gertie & Max Regent Trocken (Germany)
Made from Regent, not introduced to Germany until the 1990’s, this is a smooth and juicy red bursting with blueberries and currants. Essentially, Merlot in lederhosen.

Domini del Leone Veneto Rosso (Italy)
Meet the perfect BYO red! Medium in body, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Corvina and Raboso presents cherries, plum and cranberry. Silky smooth and refreshing.

La Maialina Gertrude Toscana (Italy)
It’s back! A highly affordable, “Super Tuscan” made from Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot, meant to be enjoyed with pizza, spicy fennel sausage and meaty pastas. Fun fact: La Maialina (little pig) references the Cinta Senese heirloom breed that originated in the Siena area during the 1300’s and is the only Tuscan native pig to survive extinction.

Le Cantine di Indie Polpo Rosso (Sicily)
100% organic Nerello Mascalese that’s lush, a little savory and a little jammy. Flavors include strawberry, sage, eucalyptus, leather and raspberry. Try it chilled with Mediterranean fare – grilled eggplant, tomatoes, roasted peppers, grilled fish and, of course, octopus.

Konpira Maru Over & Over Pinot Noir (Australia)
The goal of Australian winemaker Konpira Maru is simple: produce wines they want to drink and inject a little fun into an industry often accused of taking itself too seriously. With their Pinot Noir, you’ll enjoy a nose of rose petals, berries and ripe mandarin. The palate offers an eclectic mix of green peppercorn, salted caramel and a splash of iced coffee, berries and a heap of spice.
