Pop-Up Alert: Pellegrino Cutlery

A very common topic of conversation here at COOK revolves around knives. Either what’s your favorite to use, where do you buy them, or how to keep them sharp. Enter Steve Pellegrino. If you’re not familiar with him, he’s the man behind Pellegrino Cutlery – a small fabricator based in Bucks County. While you can’t find his wares in any store, he will popping by COOK at 11 am on Sunday, February 16.

Metalwork has been around for eons. It was a craft usually done by hand before the industrial revolution. This is exactly why Steve’s knives are so sought after. He personally takes painstaking care to make each one he sells to the specifications of its buyer. He’s a mad scientist of sorts, one could say. Appropriately, one of his custom creations resides at South Philly’s Mike’s BBQ called Frankenslicer.

Along with fielding custom orders and selling a variety of knives from his current inventory, Steve will be offering a knife sharpening demo at 12pm. While I would love to see him with the giant wheel, he is planning to pass along practical knowledge for keeping your blade sharp at home.

ECON_ (21 of 31)In addition to shopping the Pellegrino pop-up, be sure to peruse our cookbooks and retail boutique.
